NEXT VERSION YOU™

WHO ARE
YOU
BECOMING?

Life has a way of moving quickly. Work, family, responsibilities, bills, plans, distractions, and other people’s needs can fill almost every hour of the day. We spend so much time managing what’s in front of us that we don’t always stop to think about where we’re actually going.

But every day, through the choices we make, the habits we build, the things we pursue, and even the things we postpone, we’re becoming someone.

The question is: Who are you becoming?

Next Version You™ is a personal-growth platform built around ideas, questions, books, videos, experiences, and resources designed to help you slow down, think about your life, imagine what’s possible, and become more intentional about what comes next.

You don’t need to have your entire future mapped out. You don’t need the perfect five-year plan. You simply need to be willing to ask better questions, explore new possibilities, and take the next step.

Learn. Grow. Become.

Curiosity changes direction

Sometimes you need to stop and think.

When was the last time you stopped long enough to ask yourself what you really want from this season of your life?

Maybe life is going well. Maybe you’re entering a new chapter. Maybe there’s something you’ve wanted to do for years. Maybe you’ve accomplished many of the things you once dreamed about and now you’re wondering what’s next. Or maybe life simply got busy and some of your dreams, ideas, and possibilities quietly moved to the background.

Personal growth doesn’t always begin because something needs fixing. Sometimes it begins with curiosity.

Those are the kinds of questions we explore at Next Version You™.

01

What else is possible?

02

What would I like to experience?

03

What have I been postponing?

04

What would I attempt if I stopped talking myself out of it?

05

What kind of person do I want to become?

FEATURED FILM

WATCH: WHAT IS NEXT VERSION YOU™?

Next Version You™ began with a simple belief: there is always another version of you waiting to be discovered.

Not a perfect version. Not a finished version. Your next version.

In the video above, you’ll hear more about why I created Next Version You™, what the idea means to me, and why I believe we should never stop thinking about the person we’re becoming.

Accomplish vs. experience

Your life is more than a to-do list.

It’s easy to measure life by what we accomplish—the promotion, the house, the degree, the business, the money, or the things we check off our lists.

But a meaningful life isn’t only about what you accomplish. It’s also about what you experience.

It’s the places you see, the people you love, the memories you create, the things you learn, the risks you take, the conversations you have, and the person you become along the way.

That’s why Next Version You™ encourages you to think beyond traditional goals. Don’t only ask, “What do I want to accomplish?” Ask, “What kind of life do I want to experience?”

Permission to imagine

Dream a little bigger.

Somewhere along the way, adults can get very practical. We stop making lists of things we’d love to do and start making lists of things we have to do.

Next Version You™ invites you to dream again.

Think about the places you’d love to visit, the things you’d like to learn, the experiences you’d love to have, the people you’d like to meet, something you’d like to create, or an adventure you’ve talked about for years.

Think about what would make you laugh, what would challenge you, and what story you’d love to be able to tell someday.

You don’t have to do everything you imagine. But you should probably give yourself permission to imagine it.

A living list

Create your 90 Life List.

Write down 90 things you’d like to be, do, have, experience, learn, create, or give during your lifetime.

Don’t worry about how you’re going to make everything happen yet.

Start with what.

Sometimes possibility begins simply by writing something down.

Five years from today

Meet your future self.

Meet your future self

Imagine it’s five years from today and you’re waking up on an ordinary morning.

Where are you? What does your day look like? Who is around you? How do you spend your time? What are you doing more of? What are you doing less of?

Think about how you feel physically. Think about your financial life and your relationships. Think about what you finally stopped postponing and what you’re proud you finally started.

Then ask yourself one more question:

Who did I have to become to create that life?

Your future isn’t created in one giant moment. It’s being shaped through the small choices you’re making right now.

Build a life that fits you

Faith • Family • Fitness • Finance • Fun

A meaningful life isn’t only about one area going well. That’s why Next Version You™
encourages you to occasionally look at five important areas of your life:

01

FAITH

Faith asks what gives your life meaning, purpose, perspective, and grounding.

02

FAITH

Family asks whether you’re investing in the people and relationships that matter most.

03

FITNESS

Fitness asks whether you’re caring for the body and mind that have to carry you through everything else you want to experience.

04

FINANCE

Finance asks whether your financial decisions are helping create the freedom and future you want.

05

FUN

And Fun asks a question we sometimes forget to ask: Are you actually enjoying the life you’re working so hard to build?

You don’t need perfect balance. Life rarely works that way.

But every once in a while, it’s worth asking:

Which part of my life deserves a little more attention right now?

Reverse the thinking

BE → DO → HAVE

Most of us naturally think about change from the outside in. We tell ourselves that when we have something, then we’ll be able to do something, and eventually we’ll become the person we want to be.

Next Version You™ invites you to reverse that thinking.

BE

Start with BE. Who do I want to become?

DO

Then consider DO. What would that person consistently do?

HAVE

And over time comes HAVE. What might become possible as a result?

Instead of waiting for your circumstances to change before you begin becoming different, start practicing the identity of the person you want to become now.

The Tiny Pebble

You don't have to move the mountain.

Big dreams can be exciting. They can also be intimidating.

When we stare at the entire mountain, it’s easy to convince ourselves the climb is too difficult. So don’t start with the mountain.

Start with a pebble.

Your pebble might be one phone call, one conversation, one application, one appointment, one hour, one new habit, one decision, or one first step you’ve been postponing.

At Next Version You™, I call that your Tiny Pebble.

Move one pebble.

You don’t have to completely transform your life today.

Just do something that changes your direction.

Because small moves have a way of becoming bigger ones.

Creator of Next Version You™

Meet Cordell Davenport

cordell-davenport

I’m Cordell Davenport—an author, entrepreneur, creator, and what I like to call a visionary builder.

I’ve spent much of my life learning, creating businesses, writing books, developing ideas, building projects, producing content, and exploring one question over and over:

What’s possible next?

My CliftonStrengths—Ideation, Input, Positivity, Futuristic, and Strategic—probably explain a lot about how my mind works. I’m fascinated by ideas. I love learning. I naturally look toward the future. And when I see a possibility, I start thinking about how to turn it into something real.

Ideation

Input

Positivity

Futuristic

Strategic

Over time, that curiosity developed into a simple personal philosophy:

Learn. Grow. Lead.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Then use what you’ve learned along the way to make a positive difference.

Next Version You™ grew from that philosophy.

I didn’t create Next Version You™ because I believe I’ve figured out the perfect way to live. I created it because I believe we should never stop thinking about the person we’re becoming.

I’m not here to tell you exactly who you should become. That’s yours to discover.

My goal is to create ideas, questions, books, videos, tools, resources, and experiences that help you discover more of it for yourself.

There is no final version of you.

Think about who you were ten years ago.

You’ve learned things since then. You’ve experienced things. You’ve changed your mind about some things. You’ve succeeded. You’ve made mistakes. You’ve met people who changed you. You’ve discovered things about yourself you didn’t know before.

You’ve grown.

Ten years from now, you’ll probably look back at the person you are today the same way.

Because life keeps changing.

And so do you.

There isn’t one final version of you waiting at the finish line.

There’s simply the person you’re becoming next.

Keep becoming.

Stay curious. Try something new. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Call someone you’ve been thinking about. Learn something. Create something. Take care of yourself. Make a memory. Have the conversation. Write down the idea. Submit the application. Take the trip. Start the project. Dream again.

And every once in a while, stop long enough to ask yourself:

Who am I becoming?

Then ask one more question:

What’s one small move I can make next?

You don’t have to know the entire path.

You just need somewhere to begin.

Learn. Grow. Become.
